Family Respite Care Services
Saturdays, January 5 – February 9
11:30 am – 1 pm
Emmanuel Church | 4224 Whilden Ct., Janesville
We are excited to announce the creation of Café Connections. This is a great opportunity for families in Rock County made possible by a collaboration between Birth to 3, Mercy Options Autism Program, Family Respite Care Services and Emmanuel Church.
Café Connections includes these three simultaneous activities. Parents can get to know other parents while the kids are involved in other safe, supervised activities.
Parent Café – a supportive parent experience
This free of charge event empowers parents as they navigate the challenges of raising a child with special needs. Parents connect with each other in a safe, structured atmosphere while their kids participate in one of the other activities. This event occurs on six consecutive Saturdays and teaches parents to take care of themselves, strengthen themselves as parents, and build strong relationships with their children. Thanks to a CESA foundation grant, this supportive experience for parents is now available in Rock County.
Social Skills Group – for kids to make friends
Mercy Options Autism Program facilitates this group focused on improving social skills. Children and teens with social struggles will build relationships and learn skills necessary to succeed in the social world. There is a fee and participants must pre-register for this group
Kids’ Camp – a supervised recreational place
Family Respite Care Services, a local respite agency, provides therapeutic recreation for children during the Parent Café. Kids Camp is open to children of Parent Café participants and siblings of Social Skills Group participants.
All families are welcome to attend. Please RSVP to (608) 756-5555, ext. 8313.
A special thank you to Emmanuel Church for opening their beautiful space to us.
